eyes x soul type installation

2016 / String Art Installation . 3.5 x 0.6m

Eyes X Soul is an experiential typographic installation that explores the notion of how one’s soul is often reflected through his eyes. The soul is an entity drawn out from looking at one’s eyes; as the saying goes, ‘eyes are the windows to one’s soul’.

Through the medium of thread, Eyes X Soul weaves together a visual maze for viewers that forces them to question what they actually see. Two opposing colours are used. Black thread connotes darkness and how one is often blind towards dechiphering another’s true character. Red thread symbolises connection. The act of knotting represents the eyes and soul as a connected entity. By gazing at the word ‘eyes’, you are drawn to look at the bigger picture, which is the ‘soul’ and character of a being.
